When the UV flatbed printer circulation pump produces noticeable and continuous noise, it is necessary to check promptly for possible faults to prevent serious issues that could affect the normal circulation of UV ink supply. There are four common causes: normal diaphragm pump circulation, low rotation speed, diaphragm damage, and motor looseness.
1. Normal diaphragm pump circulation
Different manufacturers use diaphragm pumps of varying power levels in their UV flatbed printers. In multi-head industrial UV flatbed printers, the diaphragm pump has relatively higher power, which generates louder noise during operation; in contrast, consumer models use lower power pumps with less noise. When noise occurs, if it is rhythmic and stable, it is generally considered normal circulation and does not require attention.
2. Reducing rotation speed
As long as the ink supply and printing are not affected, the circulation pump speed can be reduced. This will lower the noise level and protect technicians’ hearing from long-term exposure.
3. Damaged diaphragm
Check if the diaphragm of the pump is damaged. If so, the noise will not only become louder but also harsher and prolonged. In this case, contact the original UV flatbed printer manufacturer to request a replacement diaphragm.
4. Motor looseness
If the diaphragm pump motor is loose, it will physically increase vibration and generate noise. Simply turn off the UV flatbed printer and re-secure the loose motor.
If possible, a separate workshop can be built for the UV flatbed printer, allowing technicians to operate the computer outside. This setup can reduce noise pollution and also avoid exposure to odors and UV rays emitted by LED lamps.
