What are the factors that cause color difference in UV printing?

Table Of Contents

Compared with traditional silk-screen printing, the process of UV printing has been simplified a lot, but there are still steps such as drawing, retouching, guiding, and setting color curves to complete the whole process. Due to certain technical limitations of different UV printers and environmental factors, the quality of UV-printed products is affected. What are the factors that cause color differences?

Objectively speaking, due to various conditions in actual production, color errors cannot be completely eliminated. The only way to control the color quality difference within a reasonable color standard is through adjustment.

1. The color of UV printing is different from that of the computer monitor.

The color of UV printing is different from that of the computer monitor. The computer monitor will cause different viewing angles due to different brands, models, and parameters set by individual color values. The display is based on RGB color light, while the printed product is based on CMYK four colors for color adjustment. The principles of the two are very different, which will cause serious color differences between the screen display color and the printed product. Never use the screen color to calibrate the color.

2. UV printing environmental factors.

Environmental factors will also affect the difference in printing color, such as printing time, UV ink quality, temperature, humidity, material characteristics, etc. Factors that cannot be controlled by humans will also affect the difference in printing color. Some customers like to be greedy for small bargains and buy cheap inks, which leads to unsatisfactory printing effects. Using inks from different manufacturers is the most direct cause of color difference.

3. Color value problem.

When making colors, the color value of the lightest color should not be less than 8%, otherwise it may not be printed. Please do not use four-color black or four-color gray, which is easy to showing serious color differences after printing. The color of the picture on the design manuscript is RBG, not CMYK; avoid using special colors. When the picture is purchased from a library or other places, or the material is provided from other places, sometimes there is a special color description file hidden without being discovered, resulting in the overall printing color changing. This color difference will result in an overall comprehensive color difference.

4. Material characteristics.

Material characteristics also affect color differences. Each material has different base colors and ink adsorption characteristics. If you can master the characteristics of the material, it will be easier to use colors when designing. The darker the base color of the material, the easier it is to produce a color difference.
