UV Flatbed Printer – Liquid Level Indicator Function & Troubleshooting Guide
Function Overview
The liquid level indicator on a UV flatbed printer monitors the UV ink volume in the ink cartridges. Its primary function is to alert the operator when ink levels are low, prompting timely refilling to avoid print interruptions.
- When the red indicator light flashes, it signals low ink and requires attention.
- When the red indicator light stays on constantly, it indicates a malfunction that should be addressed immediately to prevent downtime.
Fault 1 – Upper Liquid Level Red Light Constantly On
Possible Causes & Solutions:
1. Main Ink Tank Low on Ink
- Cause: Insufficient UV ink in the main ink tank.
- Solution: Open the main ink tank cover and refill with the specified UV ink.
2. Ink Supply Motor Malfunction
- Cause: Motor failure due to burnout or disconnected wiring.
- Solution: Inspect the motor for proper operation. Replace or reconnect wiring as required.
3. YB Board Output Current Too Low
- Cause: The Output current setting is insufficient for proper ink supply.
- Solution: Adjust the YB board output current to the recommended value.
4. Overflow in Secondary Ink Tank Protection Bottle
- Cause: Excess ink accumulation in the overflow protection bottle.
- Solution: Clean the protection bottle thoroughly. If damaged, replace with a new one.
Fault 2 – Lower Liquid Level Red Light On
Possible Causes & Solutions:
1. Main Ink Tank Low on Ink
- Cause: Insufficient UV ink in the main ink tank.
- Solution: Open the main ink tank cover and refill with the specified UV ink.
2. Light Tube Electrode Reverse Connection
- Cause: Incorrect polarity connection of the light tube motor.
- Solution: Reconnect the light tube motor with the correct polarity.
3. Sensor Blockage – No Float Movement
- Cause: The float-type ink level sensor is obstructed or defective.
- Solution: Check if the sensor is damaged; replace it if necessary. If intact, manually lift the float to restore movement.
Additional Notes
- The liquid level indicator is located on the machine’s main control panel.
- In addition to the indicator light, most printers are equipped with an audible alarm (beep-beep-beep) to alert the operator of low ink levels.
- Always use manufacturer-recommended UV ink to ensure optimal performance and avoid damage to the ink supply system.
